Wegotwanderlust does Thousand Trails
So, when we purchased Wanderlust, we were given a 1 year trial membership in the Thousand Trails Camping Club. I have seen a couple of Youtube video’s on the Thousand Trails Club and they were all pretty positive.
We certainly appreciated the opportunity to visit some of these campgrounds, and since our first years stays were free, we couldn’t beat the price.
We made reservations to visit Bulow campground in Flagler, Florida for two nights.
When we first arrived they directed us to a site (knowing that we were a 29` motorhome) that had the hookups on the wrong side and two trees that were too close together for us to back into, the lady at the front desk was extremely helpful and just directed us to a different site.
Here are the positives of this campground from our perspective:
- Hookups were easily accessible (when we had a site that accommodated our rig)
- The campground is in a great location for beachgoers
- The facility had a lot of things to do, especially if you were traveling with kids, (Miniature Golf, Playgrounds, Sport Courts, Pool)
Here are the negatives:
- The campground is extremely congested
- It appeared that there were many many full timers and some of their sites were totally junked up. (Spare Tires, lawn equipment, vehicles, boats, trailers, you name it)
- There isn’t much in the way of scenery available at least from what we saw.
- The campsite next to ours had a large dog tied on a chain that snarled, barked and lunged at us everytime we walked by, and a smaller dog that was not tied up that ran over to greet us. Jodie and I are dog people, but that was just a little excessive for us.
- While they advertised cable TV available, there were not enough connections for guests, and the connection boxes were in pretty bad shape.
In the end, we only stayed one night. We packed up the next morning and went for a night to Salt Springs, which is where we went for the maiden voyage.
Bottom line, at least this campground, in the Thousand Trails system, would be okay for a quick overnight stop over, but isn’t somewhere we would want to spend much time at.
This campground gets only 1 paw.
The good news is, we stayed for free.
